It had often been suggested that I write a book on this subject and as I recently partly retired, there is now spare time to write this book to help newcomers to horse owning.
I hold the British Horse Society’s Stable Managers Certificate and am a BHS Intermediate Instructor., Fellow of the ABRS, and an RDA Training Advisor. I was recently awarded the MBE, , of which I am very proud!
I see this book being aimed at enthusiastic amateur riders, who are now considering becoming horse owners, or parents who need some help in costings and commitment!
Riders from teenagers upwards, probably already attending large equestrian events as spectators, will probably enjoy reading this book.
I have researched this by sending out questionnaires and samples of the draft to a number of horse and pony owners, and incorporating their comments with my observations.
The feedback has been encouraging, as there appears to be many books on care, but not many dealing as deeply with the pro’s and con’s in a factual manner, giving the reader pointers towards reaching a decision.
There are chapters giving guidance on :-
Cost of basic care,
Finding the right horse,
and many more aspects of horse owning.
I hope the horse you decide to own is happy being owned by you!
